Off the topic, my ordered copy of "Joe Satriani - Live in San Francisco DVD (Epic Records)" came in the mail a few days ago and I've spent considerable time watching this fellow play his guitar. It turns out that the bassist, Stu Hamm, is most disliked by Joe's fans. The poor fucker gets booed to oblivion every time attention is drawn to him on stage.
Then at some part in the concert J S says "whoa...they Stu'd him his they love him!"
So it turns out that actually the otherwise-delightfully-behaved crowd weren't saying "boo" but "stuuu" instead - so we are to believe, anyway. Should I? I'd love to because Stew looks most likeable. (Have you seen him? He's built like a teddy bear and has a ginger mop of hair to match). But then you see, how likely are you to yell the first name of someone you like on stage (I don't ever hear choruses of "Billlyyyyyyy!" or "Jarvissss!" or "Tommm!" - of course not because they don't perform anymore. But neither did I hear "Bret", "Antony" or "Dave" when they played).
So what was it?

Ha you're right, in fact he looks even worse in this concert thanks to his sunglasses. But that can't be why can it? I mean, how would Eric Johnson or Matt Bellamy get away with it (maybe even Stewe Wai)?

the way he plays? if he hasn't changed his style he shifts his weight from foot to foot and bends his knees in a fucked up manner i remember.
he just looks like a cheebye la. johnson and bellamy and vai you concede respect to them.
